Vacuum Truck Technician
Lapin Services
Job Description
Septic & Grease Pump Truck Operator – Service Sales
Lapin Services is looking for a customer-focused problem solver who can operate a commercial truck, communicate well with customers, and sell solutions.
A CDL driver's license with 3 years driving experience and a clean record is required.
You do not need previous septic, grease trap, or wastewater experience. We can teach the technical side of the work.
What matters most is that you are comfortable meeting customers face-to-face, asking good questions, understanding their problem, explaining what you find, and recommending the right solution.
This position is similar to a strong residential service plumber: you arrive for one service, evaluate what is happening while you are there, help the customer understand their options, and provide additional solutions when they are needed.
This is not just a driving and pumping position. Our operators are problem solvers, and solution providers.
What You’ll Do
- Operate a vacuum truck for residential septic and commercial grease trap pumping.
- Provide professional, face-to-face service to homeowners and commercial customers.
- Ask questions, evaluate the system, and identify problems or additional needs.
- Explain findings clearly and recommend practical solutions.
- Sell appropriate additional services such as risers, lids, filters, pumps, alarms, repairs, additional pumping, and recurring service.
- Identify larger repair or service opportunities and connect the customer with the appropriate Lapin team.
- Complete work orders, photos, customer approvals, payments, grease-trap hauler manifests, and required documentation.
- Transport collected waste to approved disposal facilities and maintain the truck and equipment properly.
- Follow company, DOT, safety, and wastewater-handling requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable talking with customers and recommending additional work when it solves a real problem.
- Ability to listen, ask good questions, and explain options clearly.
- Problem-solving mindset and mechanical aptitude.
- Professional, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Comfortable performing physical outdoor work in Florida conditions.
- Valid CDL appropriate for the assigned truck and acceptable driving record.
- Previous plumbing, HVAC, pest control, route service, home service, or other customer-facing field-service experience is helpful but not required.
- Septic and grease experience is not required; we will train the right person.
