CDL DRIVER

Job Summary

Greenleaf Recycling is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious CDL Residential Garbage Truck Driver to join our team. This position is responsible for operating a commercial garbage truck on assigned residential collection routes throughout our local service area.

This is a physically active position that requires more than just driving. Our residential drivers work closely with route helpers/throwers, safely navigate residential streets, complete daily routes efficiently, and provide dependable service to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a residential garbage collection truck on assigned routes
• Complete scheduled residential trash and/or recycling collection routes in a safe and timely manner
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Identify and report vehicle defects, maintenance concerns, accidents, or safety issues
• Safely maneuver the truck through residential neighborhoods, driveways, narrow roads, and other collection areas
• Work closely with route helpers/throwers to complete routes efficiently
• Exit the vehicle and assist with collection when needed
• Follow assigned routes, service instructions, and dispatch directions
• Properly transport collected material to designated disposal or transfer facilities
• Maintain accurate route and service information
• Communicate missed stops, blocked containers, overloaded material, or other service issues to dispatch
• Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, traffic laws, and operating procedures
• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when interacting with customers and the public
• Keep the assigned truck and cab reasonably clean and organized
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience

• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
• Must have the appropriate CDL class and endorsements necessary to operate assigned equipment
• Must maintain a valid DOT Medical Certificate when required
• Ability to safely operate large commercial vehicles
• Must meet all applicable DOT/FMCSA and company driver qualification requirements
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Good communication skills
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Previous garbage, recycling, roll-off, rear-load, commercial driving, or similar experience is preferred, but qualified CDL drivers are encouraged to apply

Schedule

This is a full-time, early-morning position. Start and finish times may vary depending on the assigned route, weather, holidays, disposal facility schedules, and daily workload.

Applicants must be dependable and available to work the hours necessary to complete their assigned route.

Pay: $23.50 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
