Trash Truck Driver

Job Overview
Kansas Waste Recovery is seeking a motivated and dependable Trash Truck Driver to join our team! In this role, you will operate various types of waste collection trucks, including front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks, to ensure efficient solid waste management for our community. Your expertise in commercial truck driving combined with a strong safety mindset will help maintain our reputation for reliable service.

Duties

• Safely operate different waste collection trucks such as front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks according to route schedules
• Load and unload garbage or recyclable materials while adhering to safety protocols and traffic laws
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and proper functioning of air brakes and other systems
• Follow established routes for municipal waste collection, ensuring timely pickups and efficient route driving
• Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, including load & unload records and mileage reports
• Conduct mandatory pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections checking brakes, tires, fluids, and lift components.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding route issues or vehicle maintenance needs
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards during all operations
• Interact professionally with residents and business owners while keeping work areas clean.

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
• Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsements
• Experience operating heavy-duty trucks such as front loader, rear loader, or roll-off trucks
• Knowledge of traffic laws, safety protocol adherence, and state transportation regulations
• Mechanical knowledge for basic troubleshooting and vehicle inspections
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and outdoor work in various weather conditions
• Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations and solid waste management practices
• Comfortable working outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
• Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with clients during pickups
