Pump Truck Operator

Huff Septic is hiring a full-time pump truck driver out of our South Bend shop. You will run a local route pumping septic tanks, holding tanks, grease traps, and lift stations for homeowners, restaurants, and municipalities across St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, and LaPorte counties.

What you will actually be doing

• Driving a vacuum truck on a dispatched local route, typically 5 to 6 stops per day
• Locating and opening & pumping tanks
• Inspecting what you see and telling us about it: cracked lids, bad baffles, failed pumps, wet drain fields
• Talking to the customer at the door, explaining what you found
• Hauling and offloading at a permitted disposal site
• Pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and keeping your truck maintained and clean

What you need

• Class B CDL (Class A is fine) with a tanker endorsement, or willingness to get the endorsement within 30 days.
• Clean driving record and a current DOT medical card, or the ability to pass a DOT physical
• Ability to pass a drug screen and FMCSA Clearinghouse check
• Comfortable using a smartphone for your route, photos, and paperwork
• Able to drag a heavy hose, hand dig a lid, and work outside in Indiana weather

You do not need septic experience. If you have run a tanker, a dump truck, a roll off, or a vac truck, you will pick this up fast.
