Haz Waste Driver

Job Description

Black Gold Industries in National City, CA is seeking a Haz Waste Driver to perform Hazardous Waste handling on various military bases and commercial customers primarily in the surrounding areas. Position will require a Haz Mat endorsement and TSA fingerprint clearance added to current drivers license. Experience required. We require drug testing and participation in random drug testing. Successful candidate must have a CLEAN DMV and be able to pass a stringent background check by the FBI and TSA including fingerprinting. Will also need Roll-Off and Semi-Tractor Trailer experience. Rocket Launcher experience also very helpful.

DESCRIPTION: The Driver is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste pick up, delivery and disposal (drop off) at facilities. Emergency Response and spill clean-up activities may occur from time to time. Work setting may be as part of a team or independently with little or no supervision. Knowledge of manifesting, placarding and labeling a plus.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

-Engage in moderate to strenuous physical labor including lifting, pulling and pushing heavy objects.

-Performs emergency response activities at times.

-Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with Health & Safety Compliance and regulations.

-The ability to wear and properly use a variety of Levels, B, C & D personal protective Equipment (PPE). This includes respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection in a multiple number of combinations.

-Works in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions: including extreme heat and cold while wearing various levels of personal protective equipment.

-Works in atmospheres and locations with proper PPE that have the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic or corrosive.

-May Climb into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers.

-Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and by the needs of the business.

* Additional experience completing waste profile sheets and or experience with government installations. Must have a CLEAN commercial Driver's License with Hazmat Endorsement and air brakes.

CERTIFICATIONS

-40 Hour OSHA Hazwoper - current or will need to obtain

- Clean Driving record and valid drivers license required as a continuing condition of employment.

-Attention to detail

-Able to travel, occasional overnight travel required.

- Able to take and comply with directions and ability to multi-task.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

-Position involves physical exertion. Requires standing, lifting up to 50lbs. Requires pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping and crouching in confined spaces; Requires walking, climbing, speaking, listening, color determination and clarity of vision at 2 feet or more (with or without lenses); Requires the ability to properly wear and use personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) including levels B,C,D & E, PPE suits which can elevate body temperature substantially during strenuous exertion.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Qualified candidates must be able to pass a company background check- be able to pass e-verify employment status background check (authorized to work in the U.S.)- pass FBI background check and TSA background with fingerprints check-pass a physical and drug test. All drivers will be subject to random drug testing throughout their employment.-Must pass DOD Background check for Federal Facilities Security Access (Rapid Gate) Successful candidate will supply a clean DMV report as a part of the application process or will not be considered.*
