Commercial Driver's License Driver

Overview

family-owned waste collection company seeking a dependable, safety-minded CDL driver to join our crew. We're looking for somone who takes pride in their work, care for the equipment, and treats customers and coworkers with respect.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a trash truck on assigned collection routes.
• Comlete routes thoroughly and report missed stops, access issues, or service concerns to the office.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report mechanical problems.
• Keep the truck cab clean and help maintain company equipment.
• Assist with trash collection and loading as needed.
• Follow company safety procedures and applicable driving regulations.
• Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and office staff.

Skills

• Required: Appropriate commercial driver’s license for assigned vehicle; safe driving practices, defensive driving, quick responses to traffic changes, and knowledge of passenger safety.
• Required: English communication skills, customer service, and ability to follow written procedures and complete basic written records.
• Safe driving record.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to follow route instructions and use a tablet for route information.
• Prefered: trash truck experience.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell.
• Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus due to the constant maneuvering of vehicle in tight and high traffic areas.
• Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
• Sitting may be required up to 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving.
• Ability to work in usually loud conditions.

Working Conditions:

• Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, extreme hot and cold weather conditions (depending on season), moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Work in outdoor environment up to 100% of the time.
• Occasionally work in high precarious places.
• Work in motor vehicle traffic conditions constantly.
• Work environment is usually loud.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
