Responsibilities

• Safely operate roll-off trucks equipped with front loader and rear loader mechanisms to load, transport, and unload waste containers efficiently.
• Drive along designated routes while adhering to traffic laws, DOT regulations, and state transportation rules to ensure safe delivery and pickup schedules.
• Load and unload waste containers manually or using mechanical equipment such as front-end loaders or hydraulic arms, ensuring proper handling of heavy materials.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to identify mechanical issues, maintain air brake systems, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, deliveries, pickups, and any incidents or maintenance needs for record-keeping purposes.
• Interact professionally with customers during pickups or drop-offs, providing excellent customer service while explaining procedures if necessary.
• Follow hazardous materials regulations when applicable, ensuring safe handling of all waste types in accordance with environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience operating roll-off trucks or garbage trucks preferred.
• Proven experience in commercial truck driving, route delivery, or municipal waste management.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and state transportation laws governing commercial vehicles.
• Mechanical knowledge related to heavy-duty trucks, air brake systems, manual transmissions, and routine vehicle maintenance.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual load/unload tasks safely in outdoor environments.
• Strong understanding of solid waste management practices and safety protocol adherence for hazardous materials when necessary.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and clear communication during interactions with clients.
• Prior outdoor work experience involving heavy equipment operation or municipal services is highly desirable.
