Job Description

Territory Account Manager (Outside Purchasing)

Catalytic Converter & Non-Ferrous Metals Recycling

Territory: Virginia | Field-based, home-office role

$70,000–$90,000 base + commission | Company truck, fuel & travel covered

Position Overview

Daniel Ball Converter Recycling, a division of Elemental North America, is seeking a Territory Account Manager to lead purchasing across an assigned territory. In this role, you will build and manage relationships with salvage yards, scrap yards, and auto recyclers, purchasing catalytic converters and non-ferrous metals on behalf of the company.

This is not an office-based sales position. It is an outside purchasing role with full ownership of a territory. It is well suited to a relationship-driven professional with sound judgment, strong negotiation skills, and the integrity to manage significant transactions independently.

Position Highlights

· Strong earning potential: $70,000–$90,000 base salary plus commission.

· Company truck: Fuel and travel expenses are fully covered.

· Territory ownership: Manage your own schedule and account base.

· Comprehensive training: Paid training on converter grading, pricing, and compliance. Industry experience is not required.

· Career growth: Advancement opportunities within a growing multi-state organization.

About Daniel Ball Converter Recycling

For more than 30 years, Daniel Ball Converter Recycling has been a trusted buyer and processor of Platinum Group Metals (platinum, palladium, and rhodium) recovered from spent catalytic converters, as well as a dealer in non-ferrous metals. We are part of Elemental North America and the international Elemental group, which recovers strategic raw materials across Europe, Asia, and North America.

The metals we recover return to the manufacturing supply chain, reducing the need for new mining. Our team takes pride in doing that work the right way: with integrity, fair dealing, and full regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

· Purchase catalytic converters and non-ferrous metals from salvage yards, scrap yards, repair shops, core buyers, and brokers.

· Identify and grade converters on-site and determine pricing using company tools and market data.

· Negotiate pricing, complete transactions, and ensure accurate payment and documentation at each visit.

· Develop new accounts through in-person and phone prospecting, including accounts currently served by competitors.

· Transport purchased material to our processing facility or coordinate freight for larger lots.

· Maintain accurate purchase, customer, and inventory records, and perform onsite audits.

· Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing converter purchases.

Performance Expectations

· First 90 days: Complete training on converter identification, grading, pricing, and state compliance; work alongside experienced buyers; assume responsibility for existing accounts.

· By six months: Manage the territory independently, increase volume with existing accounts, and add new accounts each month.

· By twelve months: Establish the territory as a consistent, profitable source of material.

QualificationsRequired

· 2+ years of experience in outside sales, route sales, purchasing, or B2B account management involving face-to-face client relationships.

· Demonstrated record of meeting goals or growing accounts.

· Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

· High level of integrity and attention to detail in managing large-dollar transactions.

· Proficiency with smartphone or tablet applications for pricing, communication, and recordkeeping.

· Ability to travel daily within the territory, with occasional overnight travel.

· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

· Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· High school diploma or GED.

Preferred

· Experience in scrap metal, auto salvage, auto parts, towing, auctions, or commodities.

· Established relationships with yards or recyclers within the territory.

· Familiarity with catalytic converters, PGM markets, or non-ferrous metal grades.

Compensation & Benefits

· $70,000–$90,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.

· Commission payout opportunities

· Company truck, fuel, and travel expenses.

· Paid training on grading, pricing, and compliance.

· Health, Dental, Vision, matching 401k, PTO, paid holidays

Offers are contingent on a pre-employment drug screen, background check, motor vehicle record (MVR) review, and a DOT physical to obtain a medical card, which is required to operate the company vehicle.
