  • Mechanical & Brake Repairs: Execute roadside fixes for common failures such as air brake system leaks, tire blowouts, battery failures, and cooling system issues (hoses, thermostats, and radiator leaks).

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Specialized Knowledge: Proficient in hydraulic system troubleshooting and air brake repair.
  • Safety Zone Management: Establish and maintain safe work zones around the disabled vehicle, often in high-traffic or narrow urban areas, adhering to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate electronic records of all field repairs, parts used, and labor hours through fleet maintenance software.

Certifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B or A) with air brakes endorsement preferred but not necessary
  • Valid Drivers License with a clean record is a must.
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in all weather extremes and lift or move objects weighing up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Soft Skills: Strong independent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with dispatchers and drivers under high-pressure situations.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: Work is primarily performed outdoors in all types of weather (rain, snow, heat) and involves exposure to dirt, odors, and noise typical of waste management environments.
