We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Colorado location. Reporting directly to the Area District Manager, this position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the facility while providing leadership to drivers, customer service representatives, and operational staff.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily waste collection and disposal operations, supervising employees, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing labor and productivity, and maintaining fleet readiness. This is a working management position that requires the candidate to have both Front load and Roll-off experience and be able to drive a daily route while performing and completing other tasks of the position.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and mechanical knowledge to assist with fleet maintenance and equipment repairs. This individual must be willing to operate commercial vehicle and assist with preventive maintenance, compactors, and container refurbishment to keep operations running efficiently.

Role and Responsibilities

This role includes the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Operations Leadership

  • Lead and oversee the daily operations of the Colorado location, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery.
  • Report directly to the Area District Manager and provide regular operational updates, performance metrics, and recommendations.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies and objectives that support company goals.
  • Oversee daily waste collection, hauling, and disposal operations to ensure timely, efficient customer service.
  • Address operational issues promptly to minimize disruptions and maintain service quality.
  • Coordinate with other departments to improve operational efficiency and communication.

Team Leadership

  • Directly supervise Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) and operational personnel while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to employees.
  • Conduct regular performance discussions and assist with employee development and training programs.

Driver & Fleet Support

  • ·Maintain a valid Class A or Class B CDL and safely operate company vehicles when necessary.
  • Drive Daily Operational Routes
  • Conduct ride-alongs and route observations to improve safety and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with accident investigations, driver coaching, and DOT compliance initiatives.

Fleet Maintenance

  • Assist with preventive maintenance (PM) scheduling and inspections for company vehicles and equipment.
  • Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot mechanical issues and coordinate repairs.
  • Perform minor truck maintenance and repairs when appropriate.
  • Assist with maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting compactors and other waste handling equipment.
  • Paint, refurbish, repair, and prepare waste containers as operational needs require.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environment.

Labor & Performance Management

  • Monitor employee attendance, labor hours, and overtime to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets for payroll accuracy.
  • Analyze labor efficiency reports with the Area District Manager to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare operational reports, KPIs, service metrics, labor reports, and productivity summaries.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement corrective actions.

Customer Service

  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by overseeing the resolution of customer concerns and service issues.
  • Support Customer Service Representatives in delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to improve service quality and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Two years experience of Roll-Truck/ Two Years experience Front Load truck
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership or operations management experience, preferably within the waste management, transportation, or logistics industry.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, compactors, and related equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to perform both management and field responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operations management software.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing DOT-regulated drivers and fleet operations.
  • Experience with route management software, GPS fleet systems, and waste industry operations.

Physical Demands

This position requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and working around heavy equipment and commercial vehicles. The Operations Manager must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions while actively participating in field operations.
