Position Overview

Horizon Pipe is seeking a dependable, hardworking Vacuum Truck Assistant to join our field operations team. This position works alongside an experienced Vacuum Truck Operator performing sanitary sewer, stormwater, hydro-excavation, and pipe cleaning operations throughout Northeast Florida.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in the underground utility and infrastructure industry. No previous vacuum truck experience is required for the right candidate. We are willing to train someone who shows up on time, works hard, takes care of equipment, learns quickly, and can be trusted to work safely.

The goal of this position is to develop qualified employees into Vacuum Truck Operators as they gain experience and demonstrate the ability to safely operate the equipment.

Responsibilities

As a Vacuum Truck Assistant, you will:

• Assist the Vacuum Truck Operator with daily cleaning and vacuum operations.
• Set up and break down hoses, water lines, vacuum tubes, nozzles, and other equipment.
• Assist with cleaning sanitary sewer and stormwater pipelines, structures, inlets, and manholes.
• Assist with hydro-excavation and debris removal operations.
• Safely work around manholes, catch basins, roadways, construction sites, and heavy equipment.
• Help establish and maintain proper traffic-control and work zones when required.
• Monitor hoses, equipment, water levels, and vacuum operations while working.
• Maintain a clean and organized truck and work area.
• Wash, clean, grease, and perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Inspect tools and equipment before and after use and report problems to the operator.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and disposal of material.
• Follow Horizon Pipe safety procedures and customer/jobsite requirements.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, inspectors, and customers.
• Perform other field duties as needed to help the crew complete projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Have a strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Be comfortable working outdoors in Florida weather.
• Be able to perform physical work, including lifting, pulling hoses, climbing, bending, and working on uneven terrain.
• Be comfortable working around wastewater, mud, debris, and underground utility infrastructure.
• Be willing to work early mornings, extended shifts, and occasional nights or weekends when project schedules require it.
• Be willing to travel within Horizon Pipe's service area as needed.
• Follow instructions and work safely around heavy equipment.
• Be able to work effectively as part of a two-person or multi-person crew.

Previous construction, utility, pipeline, vacuum truck, heavy-equipment, CDL, or underground infrastructure experience is helpful but not required.

Operator training may include:

• Vacuum truck operation
• High-pressure water and jetting systems
• Sewer and stormwater cleaning techniques
• Hydro-excavation
• Debris-body and vacuum-system operation
• Equipment inspections and preventative maintenance
• Jobsite setup and safety
• Production planning and daily documentation
• CDL training/qualification, when applicable
• Leading a vacuum truck crew

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
