Scrap Yard Laborer

Job Overview

As a Scrap Yard Laborer, you’ll help keep yard operations moving by sorting recyclable materials, supporting equipment operators, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Duties

• Sort, load, and move recyclable materials using material handling equipment and safe lifting practices.
• Assist with loader, excavator, forklift, front loader truck, roll-off truck, and garbage truck operations as assigned.
• Follow safety regulations, hazardous materials regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and established safety protocols; use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Clean work areas and support sanitation, recycling, landfill management, and solid waste management tasks.
• Inspect equipment, report mechanical concerns, and help maintain an orderly yard.

Requirements

• Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in changing conditions.
• Commitment to safety protocol adherence, PPE use, and safe handling of recyclable materials.
• Experience with loader operation, excavators, forklifts, trucks, manufacturing, recycling, sanitation, or cleaning is preferred. MA Hoisters license preferred.
• Outdoor work experience and knowledge of safety or hazardous materials regulations are an advantage.

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
