Duties

• Safely operate various sanitation trucks, including front loader, rear loader, and roll-off trucks, following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Load and unload waste materials using front-end loaders or manual lifting techniques, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials when applicable.
• Drive designated routes efficiently while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation laws.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including checking air brakes and mechanical components, to maintain optimal safety and performance.
• Collect waste from residential, commercial, or municipal sites, providing excellent customer service by maintaining professional communication with clients.
• Follow safety protocols for hazardous materials regulations and ensure compliance during all operations.
• Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, loads, and disposal activities; complete shift reports promptly.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as front loader trucks, rear loader trucks, or roll-off trucks in a municipal or solid waste management setting.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred with endorsements for air brake and manual transmission operation.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
• Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues.
• Strong understanding of heavy lifting techniques and safe load & unload practices.
• Excellent driving skills with defensive driving training; route driving experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
• Exceptional customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients and the public.
