Job Overview

Roll-Off Truck Driver (Non-CDL, Hook-Lift)

Company: Emerald Soils LLC

Location: — local route across Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma

Job type: Part-time, hourly. Home every night.

Pay: $18 - $22/hr, depending on experience. Paid training.

Schedule: Weekdays with early starts. Occasional weekend pickups on a shared rotation.

About Us

Emerald Soils is a growing composting and organics hauling company in Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma. We haul food-processing byproducts, landscape and green waste, and other organic materials for local businesses, then turn that material into finished compost that goes back into the ground. We are a small, hands-on team, and our drivers are the face of the company to our customers.

The Role

You will run a single-axle hook-lift (roll-off) truck rated at 26,000 lbs GVWR. No CDL is required. Your day is spent delivering, swapping and picking up roll-off containers at customer sites and hauling loads to our compost site. You will be trained on our routes and equipment by an experienced driver and mechanic.

What You Will Do

  • Safely operate a hook-lift roll-off truck on local routes in Arkansas and Oklahoma
  • Deliver, swap and pick up roll-off containers at customer sites, setting them where customers need them
  • Haul organic loads (food-processing residuals, yard waste, wood chips and similar materials) to our compost site
  • Tarp and secure every load, and check that containers are not overloaded
  • Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any defects
  • Keep accurate load tickets, time records and photos, and communicate with dispatch by phone or text
  • Do basic upkeep: greasing, fluid checks, and keeping the truck and containers clean
  • Treat customers professionally. You are often the only person from our company they see.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license (a regular Class D license is fine; no CDL needed)
  • At least 21 years old (federal requirement for commercial vehicles that cross state lines)
  • Able to pass a DOT physical and hold a current DOT medical card
  • Clean driving record: no DUI/DWI in the past 5 years; no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • At least 1 year of experience driving a medium- or heavy-duty straight truck (box truck, dump truck, roll-off, flatbed or similar)
  • Good "backing up" skills
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, climb on and off equipment, and work outdoors in all weather
  • Comfortable working around organic waste and the odors that come with it
  • Reliable, on time, and able to work independently once trained
  • A smartphone for dispatch, photos and time tracking

Preferred

  • Roll-off or hook-lift experience (strongly preferred)
  • A Class B CDL, or willingness to earn one. We may move to a larger truck, and we will sponsor CDL training for the right person.
  • Experience in waste, recycling, landscaping, agriculture or construction hauling
  • Basic mechanical skills, especially with hydraulics
  • Familiarity with roads in Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Paid, hands-on training with an experienced driver and mechanic
  • A path to a CDL paid for by the company, with higher pay once licensed
  • Local routes, home every night
  • A chance to grow with a young company doing work that keeps waste out of landfills
