Job Description

Operations Driver (Non-CDL) & Field Technician

Who We Are

We are two growing local businesses built around hard work, reliability, and doing what others are unwilling to do.

Lake Waste provides residential and commercial waste collection, trash can delivery, removals, and junk hauling services.

Stay Lake Norman manages vacation rental properties and provides the hands-on service and maintenance needed to keep homes, guests, and properties taken care of.

We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Operations Driver & Field Technician who can split their time between both businesses. This is a hands-on position for someone who likes staying active, working independently, driving, solving problems, and taking pride in getting the job done right.

The Reality of the Job

This is not a sit-behind-a-desk job.

You will spend your days driving, lifting, moving equipment, servicing properties, handling trash, and completing a variety of physical tasks. Some days will be structured around a trash collection route, while other days may involve deliveries, junk hauling, property support, or responding to an unexpected need.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable with variety and understands that the job is ultimately about getting things done and setting the team up for success.

What You Will Do Lake Waste — Trash Collection

  • Drive a non-CDL waste collection truck on residential and/or commercial routes.
  • Safely operate and maneuver the truck through neighborhoods and local roads.
  • Work on a 1-man truck system, meaning you will be both the driver and loader.
  • Exit the truck at every stop to manually roll, lift, and tip customer trash and recycling containers.
  • Maintain a safe, steady, and efficient pace throughout the route.
  • Complete standard pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Report route issues, damaged cans, missed pickups, and vehicle maintenance needs to management.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while representing Lake Waste in the community.

Lake Waste — Dump Truck / Delivery / Hauling

Approximately 1–2 days per week, responsibilities may include:

  • Drive a dump truck for trash can deliveries and removals.
  • Deliver new trash cans to customers.
  • Remove and retrieve trash cans from properties.
  • Perform on-call junk hauls and other hauling jobs.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload materials safely.
  • Assist with occasional special projects and additional waste-related work.
  • Keep trucks and equipment clean, organized, and ready for the next job.

Stay Lake Norman — Property & Operations Support

When working with Stay Lake Norman, responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with property-related maintenance and operational tasks.
  • Deliver, move, or pick up supplies and equipment.
  • Help prepare properties for guests and address property needs as they arise.
  • Assist with outdoor cleanup, trash removal, furniture/equipment assembly, firewood deliveries and other physical tasks.
  • Respond to time-sensitive property needs and help solve problems in the field.
  • Support the Stay Lake Norman team with general maintenance and operational projects.
  • Perform Pressure Washing, Hot tub and pool maintenance, as well as other needed tasks around the property.

What We Are Looking For

Required

  • Valid standard driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, carry, and move 50+ pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Dependable, punctual, and willing to work hard.
  • Able to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to jump between different tasks and businesses as needed.

CDL Is a Plus

No CDL is required for this position.

However, a CDL and/or previous experience operating dump trucks, trash trucks, or other commercial vehicles is a major plus.

Experience in waste collection, construction, landscaping, property maintenance, junk removal, delivery driving, or similar physical work is also valuable.

The Person Who Will Thrive Here

You don't need to know how to do everything on day one.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Shows up when they say they will.
  • Takes ownership instead of making excuses.
  • Can work hard without needing to be micromanaged.
  • Is comfortable getting dirty and doing physical work.
  • Treats company trucks, equipment, and customer property with respect.
  • Can switch gears when priorities change.
  • Notices problems and communicates them before they become bigger problems.
  • Takes pride in doing a job correctly.
  • Understands that sometimes the answer is simply, "I'll take care of it."
