Truck Driver / Lead Lugger
Responsibilities
- Complete all jobs according to company standards, practices, and mission statement
- Manage a dedicated territory to ensure job completion and putting jobs on the books with signs, doorhangers and friendly customer referrals
- Safely load, transport, and unload customer items in accordance with state and local laws
- Attend training, meetings & events
- Engage with customers to facilitate the purchase and drive value (PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE!)
- Participate in key grassroots marketing efforts
- Help maintain trucks and equipment
- Be diligent about safety and promote a safety culture at The Junkluggers
- Embrace continuous improvement & implement new practices when asked
Daily Duties:
- Attend morning stand-up meeting (when scheduled)
- Help load the truck with supplies and materials (to distribute throughout the day)
- Project supplies related to junk removal, demolition or donations
- Marketing materials include: door hangers, yard signs, referral cards, etc.
- Help navigate to the customer’s home in an efficient and timely manner (use maps)
- Ask the customer about sign placement and promptly place a yard sign in a visible location in the front yard (perpendicular to the road) prior to the job start
- The lead lugger will take payment and conduct a final walk through with each customer to ensure satisfaction.
- Take CYA and marketing photos from truck and upload to SimpleCrew at each job
- Find a way to put our yard signs after leaving a job site (local neighborhood, intersection, on or off-ramp?) and ensuring door hangers are distributed
- Try to proactively find a way to surprise and delight each customer. Ask the customer if we exceeded their expectations today. If not, what else can we do?
- Ask for a 5-star review on Google and show the QR code to have the customer review us while on-site, if possible. Let the customer know how much the 5 stars will mean to our small business and team members. If they have not received 5-star service, stop and try to increase satisfaction.
- Verify that navigator is entering receipts and job-related information throughout the day, or inputting if no trained navigator (must be done each day for correct reporting)
- Follow and complete daily tracking doc and submit to the Operations Mgr on duty (or office location)
- Make sure truck tech is in place and connected/ active or charged. (tablet, ops phone, analytics GPS module, surf-sight cameras)
Pay Range:
Starting with a competitive hourly pay rate + customer tips & incentives for our am leaders.
Part-time (with opportunity to grow)
This is a seasonal role, with room to grow hours for high-performers. This is an hourly, part-time position to start.

- Help maintain trucks and equipment with daily inspections and reporting of any observed issues
- Maintain and reinforce a safety culture at the The Junkluggers
- Embrace, implement, and promote continuous improvement ideas
- Provide operational support when needed, such as dispatching
- Serve as point person in the field for both management and your fellow Luggers
- Support recruiting of new team members and promote company values
Competencies
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills are a must – this is a customer-facing role
- Ability to learn and use technology in the field to execute job requirements, quickly & efficiently
- Learn and master skills of both Navigator and Driver positions
- Ability to effectively utilize and manage resource locations in current territory (donation, recycling & disposal centers) and use them efficiently
- Attention to detail in understanding truck operation, maintenance, and care
- Exhibit a strong safety attitude & be assertive with others when enforcing safety practices and other company policies
- Confident and courageous in reporting infractions, accidents, or other issues to management
- Ability to influence and lead team(s) in field and show potential for advancement
Job requirements
- Ability to work full-time, including some Saturdays
- Supply own mobile phone (company will provide tablets for on-the-job duties)
- Pass background check & drug screen
- Maintain active drivers license with satisfactory driving record to be insured as a driver on the team
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
