Heavy Equipment Operator

SUMMARY:

The incumbent, under the supervision of the Director operates Landfill machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

➢ Operate heavy equipment and maintenance equipment, bulldozer, frontend loader, excavator, tractor, compactor, and skid steer as directed. Responsible for equipment and property.

➢ Preform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.

➢ Perform manual labor duties.

➢ Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

➢ Be able to pass exams to obtain Solid Waste License.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED, one year experience is preferred but not mandatory. Must be able to pass exam for state solid waste license.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Needs to be familiar with heavy equipment and be able to follow specifications and instructions. Must be able to communicate with public and co-workers effectively. Some mechanical experience/training is beneficial. The incumbent must be in good physical condition. Some problem solving when addressing some maintenance issues.

Pay: $17.25 - $18.64 per hour
