Join our dynamic team as a Shop Hand/Parts Runner and be a vital part of our mechanic and shop operations! As a Shop Hand/Parts Runner, you will support daily shop functions, assist with parts distribution, and ensure smooth operation of shipping, receiving, and inventory management processes. Your proactive attitude and attention to safety will help keep our operations running seamlessly while providing excellent service to internal teams and external partners.
Inventory Control
- Receive, log, and organize incoming tools, parts, equipment, and materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and update tracking logs or software as items are used, restocked, or transferred.
- Conduct regular physical counts and cycle checks; report discrepancies to the Shop Manager.
- Label, tag, and store items in designated locations for easy retrieval.
- Monitor stock levels and flag low or out-of-stock items before they impact job readiness.
Shop Maintenance
- Keep the shop, yard, and storage areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Perform routine upkeep on shop tools and equipment; report needed repairs promptly.
- Assist with basic maintenance on company vehicles and equipment as directed.
- Ensure walkways, staging areas, and work zones meet safety and housekeeping standards.
- Dispose of scrap, debris, and waste materials properly and in accordance with company policy.
Parts Running
- Pick up and deliver parts, tools, and materials between the shop, job sites, and vendors.
- Coordinate with the shop team and job site supervisors to fulfill part and material requests promptly.
- Verify orders for accuracy before pickup and delivery; return incorrect or defective items as needed.
- Maintain fuel, mileage, and basic upkeep of the runner vehicle, if assigned.
General Shop Support
- Load, unload, and stage equipment and materials for jobs.
- Assist mechanics, foremen, and crew members with shop tasks as needed.
- Support equipment preparation and turnaround between jobs.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures; wear required PPE at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager or Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a shop, warehouse, or yard environment preferred, ideally in construction, demolition, or a related trade.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required for parts-running duties.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools, shop equipment, and inventory practices.
- Comfortable using basic computer or tablet systems for inventory logging.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Forklift experience or certification a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including Arizona summer heat.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for local parts runs.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
