Join our team as a Garbage Truck Driver and become a vital part of efficient waste management operations! In this energetic role, you will operate various types of commercial trucks, including front loader, rear loader, roll-off, and dump trucks, to collect and transport municipal and commercial waste. Your expertise in safe driving, mechanical knowledge, and adherence to safety protocols will ensure smooth route execution while maintaining excellent customer service. This position offers an engaging outdoor work environment where your skills directly contribute to community cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate different types of garbage trucks such as front loader, rear loader, roll-off, dump truck, and flatbed trucks according to route schedules.
  • Load and unload waste materials efficiently while adhering to hazardous materials regulations and safety standards.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, air brake systems, and other safety protocols.
  • Follow established traffic laws and state transportation regulations during route driving to ensure safety for yourself and others.
  • Collect waste from residential, commercial, or municipal sites while providing courteous customer service.
  • Maintain accurate logs of daily routes, loads, and vehicle inspections for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Perform basic mechanical checks and minor troubleshooting to keep trucks in optimal working condition.

Skills

  • Proven experience operating garbage trucks such as front loader, rear loader, roll-off, or dump trucks; familiarity with flatbed or tractor-trailer is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and manual transmission operation in outdoor environments.
  • Solid understanding of traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials handling, and safety protocol adherence.
  • Excellent driving skills with defensive driving certification preferred; experience with route driving and delivery driver responsibilities highly valued.
  • Mechanical aptitude for conducting routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Ability to manage heavy loads safely while complying with municipal waste management standards.
  • Good customer service skills to interact professionally with clients during waste collection activities.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
