Diesel Fleet Mechanic - Second Shift (Part-Time to Full-Time)

Earthwise Waste Solutions is a locally owned roll-off, commercial, and residential waste hauler serving Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Manitou Springs, Woodland Park, and Teller County. We run a hard-working fleet of heavy-duty diesel trucks, and we are looking for a Second Shift Diesel Fleet Mechanic to keep them safe, compliant, and on the road. This position starts part-time and is built to grow into a full-time seat as you prove yourself and our shop workload grows.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel trucks (roll-off, front-load, and residential collection units), trailers, and shop equipment.

- Diagnose and repair engine, brake, air system, hydraulic, electrical, suspension, steering, and PTO issues.

- Review and clear driver DVIR defects reported through Motive, and prioritize repairs so trucks are ready for the next morning's routes.

- Log all work, parts, and hours accurately in our fleet maintenance system.

- Keep the shop, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

- Communicate clearly with the Fleet Manager and dispatch about truck status, parts needs, and anything that affects tomorrow's routes.

- Support DOT and FMCSA compliance through thorough inspections and complete records.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks (Class 7-8), including brakes, air systems, and hydraulics.

- Your own basic hand tools (we provide specialty tools, diagnostics, and lifts).

- A valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record so you can move and road-test trucks.

- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

- Open availability for afternoon and evening hours and a commitment to working Saturdays.

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work on your feet, and work outdoors in Colorado weather.

- A self-starter mindset: you see what needs to be done and you do it right the first time, whether or not anyone is watching.

- ASE or diesel technical certifications, welding and fabrication skills, and a CDL are a plus but not required.

SCHEDULE AND PAY

This is a second shift position (afternoon into evening) with the exact start time set by our Fleet Manager. You must have open availability and be able to work Saturdays. Hours start part-time and increase to full-time based on your performance and shop workload. Pay is $25 to $30 per hour depending on experience. Once you reach full-time status you are eligible for health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401K.
