Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Septic Pumping Driver to operate vacuum trucks and perform residential and commercial septic tank pumping, cleaning, and related services. This is a hands-on field position that combines driving, equipment operation, and customer interaction. The ideal candidate takes pride in clean, professional work and is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vacuum/pump trucks (typically 5,000–6,000+ gallon capacity) to and from job sites
- Locate, access, and pump septic tanks, holding tanks, and grease traps according to company procedures
- Perform basic visual inspections of tanks and lids; note any obvious issues or needed repairs
- Maintain accurate job documentation (tank size/condition notes, gallons pumped, customer signatures, photos as required)
- Clean and secure work areas after pumping; leave sites tidy and professional
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and basic equipment checks
- Communicate clearly and courteously with customers on-site
- Follow all company safety protocols, DOT regulations, and environmental guidelines
- Assist with minor maintenance, truck washing, and shop duties as needed
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not always required depending on truck configuration and company policy)
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb in/out of trucks, and work in confined or outdoor environments
- Comfortable working with wastewater and strong odors
- Reliable transportation to the shop and willingness to work early mornings and occasional longer days
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Professional appearance and customer-service mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating vacuum trucks, dump trucks, or heavy equipment
- Experience in septic, sewer, drain cleaning, or related field service work
- Knowledge of basic septic system components and common issues
- Ability to read simple site maps or property layouts
- Willingness to learn camera inspection or basic jetting assistance
