Job Description

CDL Class A or B Driver / Septic & Excavation Technician

Dyer’s Septic System Service is seeking a reliable, hardworking CDL Class A or B Driver / Septic & Excavation Technician to join our team.

This is a hands-on position with responsibilities that may be divided between our septic pumping and excavation divisions, depending on the needs of the company and workload. Some weeks may involve primarily septic work, while others may involve significant excavation work.

Experience in the septic or excavation industries is helpful but not required—we are willing to train the right person.

The position will initially involve working alongside a technician who is working toward obtaining their Class A or B CDL. Together, you will learn and follow our equipment, procedures, and day-to-day operations while providing septic pumping services. The successful applicant must be comfortable working as part of a team and helping support the technician as they work toward completing their Class B licensing requirements.

Septic Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and drive a Class B septic pumping truck
  • Pump and service residential and commercial septic tanks
  • Work alongside a technician to provide quality service to customers
  • Assist with locating and accessing septic tanks when necessary
  • Operate pumps, and other septic equipment safely
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with customers

Excavation Responsibilities

Depending on workload and company needs, this position may involve regularly assisting in our excavation division. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with residential and commercial excavation projects
  • Help with septic system installations and replacements
  • Assist with site preparation, digging, grading, and backfilling
  • Operate equipment and machinery when qualified and trained to do so
  • Assist with installing drainage systems and other site work
  • Help load, unload, and transport materials and equipment
  • Perform general labor and physical work at excavation job sites
  • Assist other team members with whatever is needed to complete projects safely and efficiently

Truck & Equipment Maintenance

This position also requires taking care of company trucks and equipment. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine maintenance on trucks, equipment, and tools
  • Complete basic repairs and maintenance when appropriate
  • Keep trucks, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
  • Identify and report equipment or maintenance issues
  • Assist with maintaining equipment to ensure it is safe and ready for use

General Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety procedures and applicable regulations
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Perform physical, hands-on work as needed
  • Work closely with other members of our team
  • Be willing to assist wherever needed based on the company's workload
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean and professional job site

Because we are a small, family-owned company, flexibility and teamwork are essential. The ideal candidate understands that responsibilities may vary from day to day and is willing to pitch in wherever needed.

Requirements

  • Must currently hold a valid Class A or B CDL
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of driving experience
  • Clean and safe driving record
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Must be a team player and work well in a close-knit environment
  • Willing to learn about both septic systems and excavation operations
  • Able to work independently when needed
  • Experience operating equipment is a plus
  • Experience in septic pumping, excavation, trucking, or a related industry is a plus, but not required

What We Offer

  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Health and dental insurance after 30 days of employment
  • Vacation benefits
  • A supportive, family-oriented, close-knit work environment
  • Opportunities for training and professional growth

We are looking for someone dependable who takes pride in their work and wants to become a valuable, long-term member of our team. If you enjoy driving, operating equipment, working outdoors, and being part of a hardworking team, we would love to hear from you.
