Swing Driver-on call (Experienced Only)

Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Swing Driver, where you will play a vital role in efficient waste collection and transportation. As a key member of our municipal waste management operations, you will operate various types of commercial trucks, including front loader, single axle container delivery trucks, and roll-off trucks, to ensure timely and safe collection services. Your expertise in driving heavy-duty vehicles and adherence to safety protocols will help keep our communities clean and environmentally responsible. Duties

• Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks such as front loader, container delivery, and roll-off trucks, following all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Load and unload waste materials efficiently using mechanical equipment like front-end loaders or roll-off containers.
• Deliver front load containers on an on call basis along with backing up Frontload and roll off routes in case of call offs and vacations.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance or report repairs promptly.
• Adhere strictly to hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards during all operations.
• Maintain accurate logs of routes driven, loads collected, and any incidents or safety concerns encountered during shifts.
• Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with residents and clients, addressing questions or concerns courteously.
• Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of air brake systems and manual transmission operation in various weather conditions.
• Assist with traffic management at work sites when necessary, ensuring safe maneuvering around other vehicles and pedestrians.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for air brake operation and manual transmission preferred.
• Proven experience driving heavy-duty trucks such as garbage trucks, front loaders, container delivery trucks, or roll-off trucks in municipal or commercial settings.
• Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations including hazardous materials handling, and solid waste management practices.
• Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot common issues.
• Demonstrated ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Excellent driving record with a focus on defensive driving techniques to prevent accidents.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations, state transportation laws, and hazardous materials regulations is highly desirable.
• Prior delivery or route-driving experience is advantageous for success in this role.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 50.0 per week
