Job Description: Roll-off Truck Driver
Driver operates a standard transmission truck with rails on the back for accommodating the roll-off boxes that roll on and off the body using a hook and wench system. Roll-off boxes range in size from 12 to 45 yard open top or closed unit compactors.
Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is for the delivery and or retrieval of industrial boxes for the use of demolition, residual (manufacturing processed material) and municipal waste materials.
Primary Job Functions:
Maintain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) in good standing in the state of Pennsylvania.
Have the ability and knowledge to operate a heavy-duty truck with controls inside and out of the cab for loading and unloading industrial roll-off boxes and compactors.
On a daily basis must be able to follow supervisor’s instructions when being dispatched to numerous locations.
Some trucks are equipped with automatic tarpers. For trucks that don’t have the automatic tarper, the employee must be able to climb up rungs attached to the sides of the roll-off box, approximately 4 to 7 ½ ft high, to the top so they can cover and uncover the load with a tarp by hand.
Have the ability and knowledge to hook a cable to the roll-off box then get back into the cab of the truck to use the controls that pull the roll-off box onto the body of the truck. When the driver gets to his destination they then roll the box off the body from inside the cab then get out of their truck to unhook the cable from the box.
Be willing and able to provide the required courteous service to our customers as scheduled on a daily basis.
Physical Demands:
Work at least eight hours a day. One 30-minute lunch.
Standing: Occasional
Sitting: Frequently, driving truck to various dispatched locations.
Walking: Frequently
Lifting / Carrying: Frequently, for trucks that don’t have automatic tarpers. Tarps weigh approximately 30 lbs.
Reaching: Frequently, while tarping loads.
Bending: Occasional
Climbing: Occasionally, in and out of cab and while tarping some roll-off boxes.
Crawling: Very seldom, to level loads.
Squat: Occasional
Pay: $24.57 - $26.00 per hour
