Job Description
Landfill Equipment Operator/Driver
(Full-Time or Part-Time Position)
Job Description
The position will be responsible for safely operating and driving County vehicles and equipment
associated with Landfill operations, including transporting waste and other materials, performing
routine vehicle inspections, and assisting with general Landfill operations as needed.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks
- Drives special-purpose vehicles in the collection and removal of solid waste from various
collection points in the County.
- Operates Landfill equipment as needed
- Performs minor equipment maintenance in accordance with established rules.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of general Virginia traffic laws, ability to safely operate trucks and assigned equipment,
dependable, ability to perform duties outdoors in varying weather conditions, and ability to perform
physical tasks moving up to 50lbs on occasion.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma, or any combination of education and experience.
Experience in operation and maintenance of motorized equipment preferred.
Special Requirements
Possession of valid Virginia driver’s license with CDL Certification
Compensation and Schedule
Annual Salary: $40,000 w/benefits
Part-time Rate: $19.23/hour
Preferred Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
