Responsibilities

• Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and accurately to install 2-4" conduits for infrastructure lighting and traffic signals.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections of machinery, ensuring all mechanical components are in optimal condition before use.
• Coordinate with project managers and crew members to plan drilling paths and execute work according to specifications and safety standards.
• Utilize mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly, minimizing downtime on site.
• Assist with the setup and operation of auxiliary heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, water trucks, and tankers as needed for site preparation and support.
• Follow all safety protocols related to construction sites and heavy equipment operation to ensure a secure work environment.
• Maintain detailed records of daily operations, equipment usage, and project progress for reporting purposes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating horizontal directional drills or similar heavy construction equipment in a construction or utility installation setting.
• Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on heavy machinery such as Caterpillar equipment.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with clean driving record for operating trucks like dump trucks, water trucks, or tankers.
• Hands-on experience with excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and other heavy machinery used in construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret project plans accurately.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
