Active Waste Solutions is looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team as Garbage Truck Helpers. This is a hands-on position working alongside a garbage truck driver to provide safe and efficient residential and commercial waste collection.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the driver with daily garbage and waste collection routes.
• Ride on the garbage truck and assist with loading and collecting containers.
• Safely move trash containers to and from the collection area.
• Help identify and report damaged containers, unsafe conditions, or other issues.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist the driver when backing and maneuvering in tight areas when directed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around the truck.
• Work efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable and dependable attendance is required.
• Able to work outdoors in hot, cold, rainy, and changing weather conditions.
• Able to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.
• Must be able to repeatedly lift, push, pull, bend, and walk.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and moving vehicles.
• Must be able to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Previous waste collection, construction, landscaping, warehouse, or other physical labor experience is a plus, but not required.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding job. Candidates must be able to:

• Walk and stand for extended periods.
• Repeatedly lift and move trash containers and bags.
• Bend, stoop, push, pull, and climb as necessary.
• Work around heavy trucks and equipment.
• Perform job duties safely at a steady pace.

Schedule

• Full-time
• Monday–Friday schedule
• Early morning start times
• Overtime may be available
• Weekend work may occasionally be required
