Freelance Diesel Mechanic – Flexible Part-Time
$35–$50/hour | Approximately 5–10 hours/month | Evenings/weekends
RollRight Mobile Trash Compaction is looking for an experienced freelance diesel mechanic to help maintain and improve our specialty work truck and maintenance setup.
This is a small, flexible side-work opportunity—not a full-time or regular part-time position. Most work is scheduled preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and equipment improvements completed outside normal truck operating hours.
Equipment
- Freightliner M2 106 diesel chassis
- Specialty hydraulic mobile compaction equipment
Typical Work
- Engine oil and filter changes
- Fluid checks and refills
- Hydraulic fluid changes
- Routine preventative maintenance
- Troubleshooting and minor mechanical repairs
- Installing or repairing miscellaneous equipment and components
- Basic equipment modifications
- Helping organize our garage, tools, parts, and maintenance supplies
- Helping improve our preventative maintenance and shop processes
Requirements
- Professional diesel mechanic experience
- Must have your own tools
- Able to independently perform routine diesel truck maintenance and repairs
- Available for occasional 2–3 hour evening or weekend work
- Reliable and comfortable working independently
Preferred
- Hydraulic system experience
- Experience with vocational or specialty work trucks
- Fabrication, welding, or electrical troubleshooting experience
- Experience with Fleetio or similar fleet maintenance software
Work Location
Work will be performed at our small company garage.
The garage is:
- Enclosed
- Equipped with electricity
- Not heated or air-conditioned
- Not temperature controlled
Schedule
Approximately 5–10 hours per month.
The truck is typically in operation Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so maintenance work generally must be performed outside those hours.
Most work can be scheduled in advance and completed in 2–3 hour evening or weekend blocks. Exact timing is flexible, and we can usually work around your primary job or other commitments.
Pay
$35–$50 per hour, depending on experience and capabilities.
This could be a good fit for an experienced diesel mechanic looking for a small amount of well-paid, flexible side work without committing to a regular weekly schedule.
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 1.0 – 5.0 per week
