About Cascade Steel

Cascade Steel Rolling Mills manufactures high-quality steel products from recycled metal. As a Utility Worker, you will support production operations throughout the mill and gain exposure to a variety of departments, including the Melt Shop, Rolling Mill, Finishing, Shipping, and Material Handling operations.

This is an entry-level position with opportunities to learn new skills, receive equipment certifications, and build a long-term career in steel manufacturing.

What You'll Do

• Work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform general labor and housekeeping duties throughout the facility.
• Assist production crews with daily operations and material movement.
• Support Melt Shop, Rolling Mill, and other production departments as needed.
• Operate hand tools and industrial equipment after training.
• Clean work areas, remove debris, and maintain safe operating conditions.
• Assist with material handling, scrap processing, and production support activities.
• Learn and follow standard operating procedures.
• Participate in training programs and obtain required certifications.
• Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior manufacturing, construction, agricultural, warehouse, mining, logging, automotive, military, or industrial experience is helpful, but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and moving machinery.
• Basic communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.

Working Conditions

This position works in an active steel manufacturing facility and may be assigned to areas such as the Melt Shop.

Employees must be able to work:

• Around heat, dust, noise, vibration, and moving equipment.
• Indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Near molten metal, furnaces, and other high-temperature processes following established safety procedures.
• On rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequently climb stairs, ladders, and industrial platforms.
• Work at varying heights while using required fall protection equipment.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed.
• Frequently push, pull, carry, and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain balance and coordination on uneven industrial walking surfaces.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
• Demonstrate the ability to work safely in high-temperature environments.

Certifications and Training

Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain applicable certifications, which may include:

• Forklift Certification
• Overhead Crane Certification
• Mobile Equipment Certification
• Lockout/Tagout Training
• Respiratory Protection Training
• Other job-related certifications as required
