Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and well-connected Vehicle Procurement Specialist to join our salvage yard team in Wrightstown, NJ. This is a field-facing, relationship-driven role responsible for sourcing a consistent pipeline of end-of-life, salvage, and junk vehicles for our crushing and recycling operations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives on building business relationships, hitting the phones, and making deals happen every day.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Sourcing & Acquisition
- Proactively contact and build ongoing relationships with auto repair shops, body shops, and mechanics within a 50-mile radius to source vehicles they are unable to repair
- Establish and maintain referral networks with towing companies, roadside assistance operators, and junk car removal services
- Contact insurance adjusters and total-loss departments to secure totaled vehicle contracts
- Reach out to car dealerships for trade-in vehicles not worth reconditioning
- Monitor platforms such as Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and Copart to identify acquisition opportunities
- Respond to inbound leads from advertising campaigns and online listings in a timely manner
Outreach & Relationship Management
- Conduct structured daily cold and warm calling campaigns to prospective vehicle sources
- Schedule and conduct in-person visits to shops, dealerships, and fleet operators
- Maintain a database (CRM or spreadsheet) of all contacts, call logs, follow-ups, and deal status
- Represent the company professionally at all times and serve as the first point of contact for vehicle sellers
Negotiation & Deal Closing
- Negotiate vehicle purchase prices based on current scrap metal market rates and vehicle condition
- Coordinate vehicle pickup and transportation logistics with towing partners or company vehicles
- Ensure all required paperwork (titles, bill of sale) is obtained and properly documented at acquisition
Reporting & Accountability
- Submit a daily activity report detailing calls made, shops/businesses visited, leads generated, and vehicles acquired
- Track all vehicle sourcing activity in the company's designated tracking system or app
- Provide weekly pipeline summary to management showing projected incoming volume
- Share real-time location via company-provided app (e.g., Google Maps location sharing, Connecteam, or similar) during working hours
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
- Valid New Jersey driver's license
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field
- Comfortable with high-volume phone outreach (50+ calls per day)
- Basic smartphone and computer literacy (email, spreadsheets, mapping apps)
Preferred
- Prior experience in auto sales, salvage, scrap metal, or related industries
- Existing relationships with local auto repair shops or towing companies
- Familiarity with vehicle valuation and scrap metal pricing
- Experience using a CRM or call tracking tool
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a competitive base hourly wage plus a performance-based commission structure designed to reward high producers:

1% commission on the gross purchase price of every vehicle procured, payable weekly upon achieving the minimum performance threshold.
