Transfer Station Driver/C&D Landfill & Transfer Station Operator
We are looking for a transfer station driver/landfill (certified is a plus), MSW Transfer Station and C&D Landfill/heavy equipment operator that can safely and efficiently operate equipment for over 200 acres of property, and drive or control construction equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, scrapers, off road dump truck and dump trucks; drive Day cab tractor/trailers (CLASS A) in order to accept, cover, and properly maintain the construction and demolition debris, concrete, limbs, etc. at the Rose Hill landfill; and also operate the Rose Hill MSW Transfer Station with a front end loader and excavator.
Successful candidate will need to perform a brief demonstration of their skills on various pieces of equipment prior to being hired as a heavy equipment operator at the landfill and transfer station.
Job duties include:
- Operate in Compliance of all On-sight Facilities
- Operate a roll-off truck
- Operating equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials and supplies.
- Operation of trucks and construction or power equipment, such as a scraper, backhoe, loader, dump truck, front-end loader, hydraulic excavators, skid steers and bulldozers
- Operation of the weed eater, chain saws, mowers, brush chippers and other small equipment and tools to maintain trees and drainage systems at the landfill.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment
- Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
- Assistance in Planning of Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
- Observing stipulated safety codes at all times.
- Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed.
- Reporting injuries and other accidents to the safety supervisor
- Advising the landfill operators of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements.
- Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
- Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.
- Performs preventive maintenance
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years + of heavy equipment operating experience
- CDL Class A
- Must be able to produce a birth certificate, valid driver’s licenses and social security card
- Pass DOT drug testing
- Must have and wear safety boots which meet ASTM F2413-05 Standards
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
