Join our dynamic team as a Wastewater Maintenance Mechanic/Operator and play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of wastewater treatment facilities.
The Wastewater Maintenance Mechanic/Operator keeps the treatment plant and its systems running smoothly. This job involves both fixing equipment and managing how the treatment process works. Main responsibilities include repairing pumps, motors, and filters; checking gauges and computer systems; collecting water samples for testing; and making sure everything follows environmental regulations. The technician also adjusts controls, valves, and gauges to control the flow of wastewater and ensure proper treatment.
They are also responsible for keeping accurate daily records, including maintenance logs, chemical use, and meter readings.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on pumps, motors, valves, conveyor belt and other mechanical components.
- Conduct routine inspections of treatment facilities, tanks, pipelines, and heavy equipment to identify potential issues early.
- Assist with the operation of heavy machinery and construction activities related to water treatment infrastructure upgrades or repairs.
- Collect data on system performance, analyze trends, and document maintenance activities accurately.
- Support water treatment processes by managing chemical dosing systems and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Perform basic math calculations for measurements, chemical dosages, and system calibrations as needed.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair and maintenance within water or wastewater treatment environments.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently, including tanker trucks used for transporting chemicals or sludge.
- Familiarity with plumbing systems, construction practices, and basic analysis skills for troubleshooting issues.
- Strong physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in confined or challenging environments.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment standards, and safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail for data collection, documentation, and system analysis.
