Scrap Yard Worker

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to efficiently move scrap materials.
• Load and unload scrap metal and other recyclable materials with precision and care.
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
• Maintain cleanliness of the yard by sorting, cleaning, and organizing scrap materials and debris.
• Operate small power tools to process metals.
• Assist customers to weigh their scrap and load information into computers.
• Support manufacturing processes by preparing raw materials for processing or shipment.
• Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as loaders and forklifts, or similar equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
• Prior experience in recycling environments is preferred but not necessary; training will be provided.
• Strong attention to safety standards and operational procedures.
• Physical stamina to stand, lift, and move materials for extended periods.
• Valid certification for forklift operation or heavy equipment operation is advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Pay: $15.50 - $17.00 per hour
