Scrap Yard Non-Ferrous Worker

The Non-Ferrous General Laborer will work under supervision, loads and unloads material from customer vehicles, sorts into appropriate container and areas, uses mechanized equipment to sort and or break down material for customer use.

• Inspects inbound material received from suppliers
• Identifies non-ferrous metals and sorts different commodities.
• Packages scrap in appropriate manner for shipping.
• Moves material in the yard or warehouse area utilizing forklift or bobcat
• General housekeeping
• May be taught how to operate and perform basic maintenance or a forklift
• Other responsibilities as assigned or required
• Wears all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working in the yard.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred but not required
• Must be able to interact with customers and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner
• Prior experience operating a forklift required and skid loader experience preferred but not required; some mechanical knowledge a plus but not required as we will train applicable candidates
• Must be able to life a minimum of 30-50 lbs. and 100+lbs. on 2-person lift
• Basic knowledge of metals preferred but will teach the right candidate
