Refuse Collector

Fair Haven Retirement Community is seeking a dependable and hardworking Refuse Technician to join our team. This position is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. Position Responsibilities The Refuse Technician is responsible for the collection, removal, and proper disposal of refuse throughout the entire facility, seeing the process through from collection to final disposal. Responsibilities include:

• Collecting trash and refuse from designated areas throughout the facility
• Pulling and transporting trash carts, bins, and other refuse containers
• Removing refuse from resident, common, departmental, and service areas as assigned
• Transporting refuse to the appropriate dumpsters, compactors, or disposal areas
• Replacing liners and returning trash containers to their proper locations
• Cleaning and sanitizing trash cans, carts, and refuse collection areas as needed
• Keeping dumpster, compactor, and waste-storage areas clean and orderly
• Identifying and reporting spills, leaks, damaged containers, or other sanitation concerns
• Following proper procedures for handling and disposing of different types of waste
• Following infection-control, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Working efficiently to ensure refuse does not accumulate throughout the facility
• Assisting the Environmental Services team with related duties as needed

What We’re Looking ForThe ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and willing to stay active throughout the workday.
