Who We Are

Full Circle Soils & Compost turns organic material that would otherwise be wasted — yard waste, fire-prevention material, food scraps — into finished compost and soil products for growers, landscapers, and homeowners across northern Nevada. Since 1997 we have kept more than six aircraft carriers’ worth of organic material out of the landfill. It is dirty, physical, genuinely useful work, and the crew that does it takes real pride in it.

Read This First — Where You Would Be Working

This is not a typical equipment job site. Please read this section carefully before applying.

• Full Circle’s compost site is located at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center / Stewart Conservation Camp dairy farm.
• The crew you would manage is made up of 10–15 minimum-security incarcerated men. Teaching and managing this crew the composting trade is one of the most rewarding parts of the role, and it takes patience, consistency, and a level head.
• The site is 100% outdoors in a dry, dusty, hot, wet, and cold environment. A qualified candidate must be comfortable and able to work within this environment.
• All employees must complete background checks and Nevada Department of Corrections training.
• Applicants cannot have any previous felonies per site regulations.

The Basics

• Position type: Full-time, salaried.
• What kind of money are we talking about: $55,000–$65,000 per year DOE to start. Real potential for advancement.
• Where is this job: Carson City, NV. On-site — no remote or hybrid option.
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Hours shift with the season and the weather.
• Reports to: Compost Site Manager.
• Manages: A crew of 10–15.

What You Would Own

Leading Your Crew

• Interview, hire, onboard, and train the 10–15 person crew that reports to you.
• Evaluate performance, deliver feedback, recommend advancement, and handle terminations when they are warranted.
• Set daily assignments and direct the crew across tasked projects including but not limited to: yard waste cleaning and sorting, fire-prevention material debagging and sorting, the product bagging program, and materials contamination management.
• Motivate your crew to stay on task, complete daily work, and build real, transferable skills.
• Report crew performance, staffing needs, and site issues to the management team.

Running the Operation

• Operate a CAT 930H loader and other equipment to process organic materials with precision.
• Assist in other composting processes such as screening, grinding, and materials loading.
• Support the compost site managers on related tasks, including load tracking.
• Grow your own machine skills to advance to other equipment on site — backhoe, dump trucks, tractors, water pumps, and more. Training will be provided.

What You Bring

Required

• Experience leading a crew — landscape, agricultural, construction, or similar. You are comfortable holding people accountable and developing them at the same time.
• 2–3 years operating heavy equipment (wheel loaders, agricultural equipment, dump trucks). 5+ years preferred.
• Ability to perform daily manual labor: pitchforking, raking, shoveling, carrying 50 lb bags, and similar.
• Comfortable managing a crew at an active prison dairy farm.
• Common sense, a strong work ethic, and the temperament to lead a crew without losing your cool.

Preferred

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous landscape crew management or agricultural experience.
• Basic mechanic / machine intuition — the “farm kid background.”

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to do the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb in and out of equipment for the majority of an 8-hour shift.
• Work outdoors year-round in extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, and dust.
• Tolerate exposure to organic material, odor, airborne dust, and equipment noise.
• Wear required personal protective equipment.

Pay & Benefits

• $55,000–$65,000 per year DOE to start, with real potential for advancement.
• Health insurance — 100% paid for the employee, after a 60-day waiting period.
• Paid vacation that grows with you: 7 days after 6 months of employment, increasing up to 28 days depending on tenure.
