Pacific Asphalt and Excavation is a contractor specializing in paving, grading, and earthwork. We pride ourselves on safety, hard work, and delivering top-tier results for our clients. We are expanding our fleet and are looking for a skilled, safety-oriented Class A CDL Driver to keep our crews supplied and our equipment moving.
Job Summary
As a Class A CDL Dump Truck Driver, you will play a critical role in the success of our daily operations. You will be responsible for safely hauling materials—including asphalt, gravel, dirt, and debris—to and from active construction sites. Because you hold a Class A license, you will also be relied upon to safely tow trailers and transport heavy construction equipment (such as pavers, rollers, and excavators) using a tilt-deck or lowboy trailer.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial dump truck, trailers, and heavy equipment transport trailers.
- Haul hot mix asphalt, aggregate, dirt, and construction spoils to and from active job sites.
- Load, secure, and transport heavy construction equipment using proper chaining and binding techniques.
- Perform thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (DVIR) to ensure equipment is in safe working order.
- Maneuver and back up trucks and trailers accurately in tight, busy construction zones.
- Work closely with the paving and excavation crews to coordinate timely material deliveries and safe dumping operations.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, delivery tickets, and daily mileage records in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the truck clean and report any maintenance issues immediately.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Current and valid DOT Medical Card.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious infractions within the last [3-5] years.
- Proven experience driving a dump truck and pulling trailers (experience with transfer trailers is highly preferred).
- Experience safely loading, tying down, and hauling heavy construction equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of FMCSA and state DOT safety regulations.
- Ability to work long hours, early mornings, and occasional weekends as project schedules dictate.
- Physical ability to climb in and out of the truck, tarp loads, and lift up to 50 lbs.
